| Description | Conservative, pro-Faroese independence political party. Party emerged from the dissolved Vinnuflokkurin (Business Party) joined by members of the Sjálvstýrisflokkurin (Self-Government Party) dissatisfied with its "gradualist" approach. The party's co-founder was Sjálvstýrisflokkurin's former chairman Jóannes Patursson. Party has been led by former Finance and Foreign Minister George Niclasen since August 2, 2007 [Hin føroyski fólkaflokkurin – radikalt sjálvstýri; "The Faroese People's Party – Radical Self-Government"; colloquially, Fólkaflokkurin (the People's Party)]. |
