Description | Once all-powerful Communist party born of a split with the larger Mongolian People’s Party [Монгол Ардын Нам] which merged back into the Mongolian People's Party in 2021 then dissolved itself. The MPRP waved a heavy hand as the sole party of Soviet Mongolia between 1924 to 1990. The Democratic Revolution of 1989 uprooted its status and the party decided in 2010 to revert to its more palatable pre-1924 name, the Mongolian People’s Party, and move rightward. The party's oft-time chairman, former President (June 24, 2005 – June 18, 2009) and Prime Minister (July 26, 2000 – August 20, 2004) of Mongolia, Nambaryn Enkhbayar, seized the MPRP name and re-registered it on June 24, 2011. Party joined the Civil Will Green Party and the Mongolian Traditionally United Party to form the "Our Coalition" [Та бидний эвсэл] ahead of legislative elections planned for June 24, 2020. Coalition was devastated by the result, picking up just one seat [Монгол Ардын Хувьсгалт Нам].
