DescriptionAgrarian-interests, social-democratic party that calls for the restoration of the monarchy under Dom Pedro de Mendoça Rolim de Moura Barreto, better known as the Duke of Loulé. Party was founded by architect and ecologist Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles upon union in 1971 of the Movimento Popular Monárquico, Liga Popular Monárquica and Portuguese Renewal into the Convergence Monárquica. Party began as a response to the anti-monarchic authoritarian corporatism of the Second Republic (or Estado Novo) period (1933 to 1974) turning more local-interest and "municipalist" after a leadership change in 2017 when Gonçalo da Câmara Pereira became chairman. Party has 2 deputies in the Legislative Assembly of the Azores [Partido Popular Monárquico (PPM or PP Monárquico)].
