| Description | Left-wing party inspired by and united with 'Chavismo' (ideology based on the ideas and style of former Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez). Party was launched and led by Honduras' 33rd president, Manuel Zedaya (January 27, 2006 - June 28, 2009). Party supported the failed candidacy of Salvador Nasralla for the presidency in 2017, forming together the short-lived "Opposition Alliance against the Dictatorship." Primary Elections held on March 14, 2021 to determine LIBRE's candidate for President ahead of a general planned for November 2021 saw Zelaya's wife, Xiomara Castro de Zelaya the winner for the third time [Partido Libertad Y Refundación (LIBRE)]. |
