Description | Center-right alliance originally launched as the platform Movimiento CREO, Creando Oportunidades (I BELIEVE Movement, Creating Opportunities) by former members of the UNO movement, the Democratic Left, the Concertación Movement and private sector leaders. Platform was formed by assemblyman and future minister César Monge (died on July 25, 2021) to support the presidential ambitions of Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso, who launched his first presidential bid in March 2017, and succeeded in taking the office on May 24, 2021. After President Lasso decreed the muerte cruzada ("cross death") on May 17, 2023, dissolving parliament, Lasso declared he wouldn't be a candidate for president in 2023. Platform was subsequently restructured as the party CREO on May 22, 2023, appointing Esteban Bernal as its National President. |
