Description | United National Congress-led center-left to Socialist coalition of four opposition parties: the United National Congress, the Congress of the People, the Tobago Organization of the People, and the National Joint Action Committee.
The coalition was formed in advance of the May 24, 2010 general election in an attempt to oust the government of Patrick Manning.
Coalition wound up victorious and its leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar (who also led the United National Congress; UNC) became prime minister on May 26, 2010 (to September 9 2015). Coalition took 27 out of 41 seats in the House of Representatives.
Coalition (now reduced to three parties) was defeated after the September 7, 2015 general election, and its constituent parts broke away one by one until only the UNC was left. |
