Once powerful left-wing party dominant in the Greek political scene until 2012. Electoral collapse begun after 2012 (PASOK dropped to 19 out of 300 seats after elections held in 2019) forced it to re-examine its future and it decided in 2018 to fold itself into an alliance it created called the Movement for Change (KINAL; 2018 - 2022) where it was the main component. A quick-paced departure of alliance members and the sudden death of PASOK's leader Fofi Gennimata (who also led the new alliance) brought about a rebranding of the alliance on May 9, 2022 as PASOK-KINAL, which is, in effect, the new PASOK. PASOK was founded by Greece's former prime minister, Andreas Papandreou (October 21, 1981 to July 2, 1989). Party has been chaired by Nikos Androulakis since December 12, 2021 [Πανελλήνιο Σοσιαλιστικό Κίνημα (PA.SO.K.)].
