Description | Conservative party co-founded by politician and government official Tsvetan Tsvetanov and the former Mayor of Sofia (November 10, 2005 – July 27, 2009) and three-time Prime Minister of Bulgaria (July 27, 2009 - March 13, 2013; November 7, 2014 – January 27, 2017; and May 4, 2017 – May 12, 2021) Boyko Borisov. Tsvetanov chaired the new party until after Borisov completed his term as Mayor. Borisov took the chair on January 10, 2010. Party was formed after Borisov with allies split from the National Movement for Stability and Progress Party, which was led by Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (Simeon II), the former Tsar and later Prime Minister of Bulgaria. GERB held the largest number of seats in the Bulgarian National Assembly from 2009 until July 21, 2021.
