| Description | Far-left movement heeding Leon Trotsky's theory of permanent revolution. Party was launched by journalist Ulrich Rippert and known in 1971 to 1997 as the Bund Sozialistischer Arbeiter (BSA), then from 1997 to February 2017, it became the Party for Social Equality (PSG). Party repeats emphatically in its literature, and by other means, that it is the 'German section of the International Committee of the Fourth International'. To make this point clearer, it adds 'Fourth International' to its present name: Socialist Equality Party, Fourth International (SGP). Germany's Office for the Protection of the Constitution has classified the party as left-wing extremist and violent [Sozialistische Gleichheitspartei, Vierte Internationale (SGP)]. |
