Description | The Keystone Party (1910--1916) was a forerunner of the Progressive Party in PA. It was formed to protest the control of the two major parties by political bosses. The appearance of the Washington Party (affiliate of the national Progressive Party) in PA divided the anti-boss voters, and the Keystone Party after 1912 tended only to endorse like-minded candidates from the major parties. Its last candidates ran in 1916.
In 2022, the party was revived by former members of the Pennsylvania branch of the Libertarian Party following the 2022 state convention, in which Mises Caucus-backed candidates ousted all incumbent members. |
