DescriptionCenter-right, Catholic party led by perennial presidential candidate Norbert Mao since February 2010. Party is Uganda’s oldest surviving.

The DP opposes the concept of an independent Buganda kingdom led by the Bugandan King, the Kabaka. This has served to make the DP persona non grata among the Ganda people who live in Buganda.

Party holds a nativist, anti Indo-Ugandan attitude, and decries Indian-Ugandans as Colonialist usurpers [Swahili: Chama cha Kidemokrasia; DP].
