Center-right agrarian-interests party formed in 1905 as the Lithuanian Peasants' Union (LVS). Party dominated the Greater Vilnius Seimas for more than a decade until the First World War and subsequently found itself operating sub rosa under German and Soviet occupation until August 18, 1990 when it was reborn as the Lithuanian Peasants' Union. Party renamed itself the Lithuanian Peasants' (or Farmers') and Greens' Union (Lietuvos valstiečių ir žaliųjų sąjunga, or LVŽS) in May 2012. Party has been chaired by Šilainiai MP Ramūnas Karbauskis since April 15, 2009.
