Description | Center-right to libertarian party founded and chaired by economist, financial advisor and father of Slovakia's flat tax Richard Sulík. Party chose to rebrand itself as SASKA (previously, SaS) effective April 3, 2023. Party is a proponent of the theories of the Austrian School and its best known advocate, Friedrich August Hayek, which believe individual motivation explains social phenomena. Party joined forces with the OL'aNO-led list, SME RODINA and ZA ĽUDÍ ahead of elections held on February 29, 2020, which together managed to pick up 53 seats in the National Council (Slovakia Parliament), the largest parliamentary bloc in Slovak history. Party broke from the coalition on August 29, 2022, forcing the coalition into minority status, which brought about a snap legislative election held on September 30, 2023 [Sloboda a Solidarita (SASKA)]. |
