Description | Communist party with once close ties to China. The JCP is considered Japan's "fourth party" in that it typically is the fourth most powerful party in the government, behind the LDP, Democrats, and New Komeito. They usually compete more strongly than the Social Democrats, the modern incarnate of the onetime primary opposition Socialist Party, because the JCP is considered a moderate Leninist party. They do not advocate social revolution and seek to achieve their central tenets (socialism, democracy, and peace) inside Japan's capitalist system. |
