DescriptionLeft-wing mercantilist party founded by former guerrillas of the revolutionary M-19 movement. Party was formed as a union of the Independent Democratic Pole (PDI) with the Democratic Alternative. Party took second place in presidential elections held on May 28, 2006 under its candidate Carlos Gaviria Diaz. Party has been led by MP Alexánder López Maya since March 15, 2021 [Polo Democrático Alternativo (PDA)].
