| Description | Multi-ethnic, center-left/Third Way political party in Suriname formed by the merger of the Muslim Party, Hindostaans-Javaanse Political Party, and the Surinamese Hindu Party. Known as the "United Hindustani Party" until 1949 to August 1966 and the "Vatan Hitkari Party" (Party for the Promotion of National Welfare) from August 1966 to 1973.
Party is led by 2015 presidential candidate (under the V7 Coalition), Chan Santokhi [Vuitstrevende Hervormingspartij (VHP)]. |
