DescriptionFar-left authoritarian party supportive of, and espousing the views of, former North Korean leader Kim Il-sung (1912–1994), manifested in a philosophy called "Juche" (or a form of self-reliance supervised benignly in a totalitarian system). Party holds regional strength in the city of Bhaktapur (or 'Kwopa') located in the Kathmandu Valley. Party advances Moslem minority rights and supports a break from India. Party is known to take its foreign policy cue from China. The NWPP was formed when the Nepal Workers and Peasants Organization (NWPO) split in two in 1981. The split established the NWPP and the Hareram Sharma (dissolved). The NWPP has been led by Narayan Man Bijukchhe since 1991 [Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party (NMKP) or 'NeMaKiPa'].
