DescriptionSecular, liberal-socialist party identified with ethnic Druze political interests in the Mount Lebanon Governorate, and its Chouf District. Party was founded by Kamal Jumblatt and was initially launched as Marxist-Leninist allied to the Soviet Union. Jumblatt later led his party to take arms on the side of the Palestine Liberation Organization during the Lebanese Civil War begun on April 13, 1975. Party has been led by his son Walid Jumblatt since Kamal's assassination in 1977 (Parti socialiste progressiste (PSP) الحزب التقدمي الإشتراكي; Ḥizb at-Taqadummi al-Ishtiraki]
