Center-right party known as MNSD-Nassara launched by Nigerien dictator Ali Saibou in 1989. MNSD-Nassara was Niger's only legal party from 1989 to 1993 and from 1999 until a coup d'etat on February 18, 2010.
MNSD-Nassara has been led since November 2008 by Niger's former Prime Minister (June 7, 2007 – September 23, 2009) and 2020 Presidential candidate Seyni Oumarou.
After placing third in presidential elections held in 2016, Oumarou and his party decided to relinquish the 'opposition' tag and joined a coalition of parties supporting current President (since April 7, 2011) Mahamadou Issoufou [Mouvement National pour la Société du Développement (MNSD Nassara)].
