DescriptionFar-left opposition party founded and led by ex prime minister (September 30, 2003 to July 5, 2005) Paul Berenger. Berenger led a Mauritius-based students' movement in 1968 inspired by the May 1968 student demonstrations in France. The movement became a political party in 1969 and pressed for 'revolution and nationalizations' as advanced by 1968 movement leaders Daniel Cohn-Bendit and Alain Geismar in France [Mouvement Militant Mauricien (MMM)].
