Description | Far-left party emerged from a split in 2004 within the now-banned Communist Party of Kazakhstan.
New party registered itself as the Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan (CPPK) on June 21, 2004.
The CPPK gained 7.19% of the vote in 2012 and entered parliament for the first time after its rival Communist Party of Kazakhstan was banned.
Party was run by a three-person Central Committee who consisted of Aikyn Konurov, Dmitry Legky and Zhambyl Akhmetbekov.
On November 11, 2020, at the CPPK's 15th Extraordinary Congress, the party changed its name to the People's Party of Kazakhstan (QHP), voting to strip out the word "Communist" from the name Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan (CPPK), and restructure its leadership from a three-person politburo to a single chairman [Link]
