Association of the Polish Community in Hungary. The Polish population numbers about 10,000 members, out of which a third live in Budapest, many as expatriates. An unofficial self-government of the Poles in Hungary was launched in 1867. One of 12 minority associations organized as political parties endeavoring to protect their cultural autonomy and seeking representation in Hungarian legislative bodies. Association was established on the basis of Act No. 20 of 1949 of the Constitution of the Republic of Hungary. Association is led by Felföldi Mária [Országos Lengyel Önkormányzat (OLÖ)].
