Association of the Romanian Community in Hungary. Romanians constitute one of the larger ethnic minorities in Hungary, amounting to over 40,000 members, and are concentrated in towns and villages close to the Romanian border. This may owe to the fact that part of modern day Romania was part of the Kingdom of Hungary. Association's symbol is the oldest Romanian house in Hungary still standing, called the Kétegyháza Romanian Country House. One of 12 minority associations organized as political parties endeavoring to protect their cultural autonomy and seeking representation in Hungarian legislative bodies. Association was established on the basis of Act No. 20 of 1949 of the Constitution of the Republic of Hungary. Association/party is led by György Kozma [Magyarországi Románok Országos Önkormányzata (MROÖ)].
