Center-right party that represents the Swedish minority residing in the Southwest and South of Finland, which places it as Finland's only regional party. Party was born as a result of Svekomania or the 'Svecoman movement' begun in the 1870s which emphasized Swedish-language identity, Swedish ethnicity and culture in Finland. The movement formed the Swedish Party, changing its name to the Swedish People's Party of Finland, Svenska folkpartiet i Finland (SFP), in 1906. Party advocates for a nationalized bilingualism, closer ties to Sweden and cooperation among the Nordic nations. Party has been chaired by former Justice Minister and Vaasa constituency MP Anna-Maja Henriksson since June 12, 2016 [Suomen ruotsalainen kansanpuolue (RKP); Swedish: Svenska folkpartiet i Finland (SFP)].
