DescriptionFormer GOP congressman denounces gay marriage amendment, backs ads opposing it
KHNL NBC Hawai'i News 8

Former California Congressman Michael Huffington, a life-long Republican, is denouncing President Bush's call for a constitutional amendment barring same-sex marriage. Huffington, the former husband of columnist Arianna Huffington, says as a bisexual, he finds the proposed amendment clearly discriminatory. He compares it to efforts a century ago to amend the Constitution to ban interracial marriage. Huffington has given 100-thousand dollars to the nation's largest gay Republican group, the Log Cabin Club, to help pay for a T-V ad campaign in eight states opposing the amendment.
