| Description | The BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB) has become the largest party in the Provincial Council elections in all provinces. The party was by far the largest in some provinces such as Drenthe and Overijssel. In Utrecht and North Holland, among others, the party narrowly won against GroenLinks and the VVD. The party also became the largest in at least thirteen water boards, reports the Union of Water Boards.
Until the last votes were counted, it was exciting on Thursday evening in the province of Utrecht. But shortly before midnight the result in Veenendaal was also known. The BBB obtained enough votes in the third municipality of the province of Utrecht to surpass GroenLinks.
Unique
The fact that Caroline van der Plas has become the largest in all provinces with BBB in one fell swoop is unique. Never before has a party in the whole of the Netherlands been number one in the provincial elections, confirms Bert van den Braak, professor by special appointment of parliamentary history at Maastricht University. |
