DescriptionPoll Shows Governor's Approval Rating Slipping

POSTED: 4:44 pm EST February 25, 2004

CONCORD, N.H. -- A new poll shows Gov. Craig Benson's approval ratings have slipped a bit, as one man considers challenging him for the state's top job.

According to the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, 52 percent of Granite Staters approve of the job Benson is doing. Last October, the same survey showed Benson's approval rating at 58 percent.

The poll indicates a growing number of people have an unfavorable opinion of Benson, including state Sen. Dick Green. The Rochester Republican said he doesn't think much of the current governor.

"First, you need credibility. He does not have it," Green said. "Second, you need leadership. He does not have it."
