Liverpool councillor apologises for calling Prince Philip 'fascist piece of inbred s***'

| Description | A Liverpool city councillor has apologised for calling Prince Philip a 'fascist piece of inbred s***' following the death of the Duke of Edinburgh.
Buckingham Palace announced the death of the Queen's husband at the age of 99 on Friday, prompting widespread tributes and media coverage.
But while some offered tributes or condolences, Liverpool Labour councillor Sarah Morton took to Facebook to provide a very different response.
Posting a link to a Metro article titled 'The best of Prince Philip's gaffes, quotes and quips', Cllr Morton wrote: "Just a list of reasons why the world is a better place without this fascist piece of inbred sh** in it."
She added: "The Metro trying to wrap it up as funny 'gaffs' is next level bootlicker cringe."
When the ECHO asked Cllr Morton about her comments, she apologised and said they were posted in anger and had since been deleted.
She said: "I wholeheartedly apologise for my comments, they were made in anger on my personal page that is closed, it was a deeply regrettable reaction to the content of the article. |
