Description | An ashen-faced John McDonnell refused to rule out Jeremy Corbyn resigning this morning as Labour leadership loyalists blamed Brexit for the dire exit poll.
The shadow chancellor, Mr Corbyn’s closest political ally, said that “appropriate decisions” would be made about the party leadership. He insisted, though, that Mr Corbyn was not to blame.
As defeats began to pour in last night, Mr Corbyn was telling friends that he did not want to “do an Ed Miliband” and resign immediately, The Times understands. |
