Description | Political consultant Robert B. Creamer, the husband of U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, was indicted Thursday on charges of operating three check-kiting schemes that resulted in bank fraud totaling at least $2.3 million.
Creamer, who has done consulting work for the campaigns of Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, was charged with 16 counts of bank fraud for allegedly swindling nine financial institutions while he ran an Illinois public interest group in the 1990s. He also was charged with 18 counts of tax fraud. His attorneys said he would plead innocent. |
