Description | Diana Johnson is the first MP to face a fight against her deselection under new rules that trigger a run-off election if a third of local Labour branches lose confidence in their candidate.
At least three of the nine branches of the Hull North Constituency Labour Party have voted to open a selection contest in advance of the next general election.
Ms Johnson, who served as an education minister under Gordon Brown, is considering a procedural challenge, and said the move to deselect her represented the views of a small number of members. |
