DescriptionIn Connecticut’s Trump country, a Republican congressional challenger who has been conspicuously absent from the campaign trail says his party abandoned him and “the hell with them.”

Dan Postemski, who was nominated in May by the GOP to run against Democrat Joe Courtney, a safe incumbent in the 2nd Congressional District, vented about what he characterized as a lack of support from Republicans in a Facebook post Wednesday.

The little-known Iraq war veteran from Hampton was responding to a Facebook post by Joe Visconti, a Trump diehard and perennial candidate, about Postemski’s lack of visibility.

“The Republican Party had no one to run against Courtney,” Postemski posted. “I stepped up when no one else would. I was promised help from the party and was abandoned by them after the convention. They wanted me to change who I was and put my family on the back burner. So I said the hell with them and went back to spending time with my family. They abandoned me, so I abandoned them.”
