Description | Early Monday afternoon, Daniel Valenzuela's campaign team issued a statement boasting of the Phoenix mayoral candidate's fundraising success.
The council member and mayoral hopeful raised more than $850,000 in the first leg of his campaign and has more than $600,000 cash on hand for the next phase of campaigning, according to his campaign-finance report filed Monday.
The campaign claimed it was the most money raised in a single fundraising period by a Phoenix mayoral candidate ever.
That may have been true at the time, but a few hours later, mayoral candidate and Councilwoman Kate Gallego posted her filings, which showed more than $1 million raised and $924,000 cash on hand.
The Phoenix mayoral election will be held Nov. 6, with a possible runoff election on March 12. |
