DescriptionA group funded by figures ranging from 21st Century Fox CEO James Murdoch to former baseball commissioner Bud Selig and Texas billionaire John Arnold is behind more than $200,000 in spending on behalf of U.S. Rep. Darren Soto in his Democratic primary against Alan Grayson.

Since July 27, a political action committee called Progress Tomorrow Inc., has spent more than $158,000 on direct mailers and digital ads supporting Soto, D-Kissimmee, and more than $50,000 on mailers opposing Grayson, according to Federal Election Commission filings.

Soto spokesperson Harry Kruglik said the campaign “does not coordinate with independent expenditure groups, in accordance with federal law.”

Soto is in a heated primary battle with Grayson, largely over who has the best progressive bona fides.
