Description | WASHINGTON – Don’t look for Rep. Diane Black in the stands at Tennessee Titans games anymore.
The Republican congresswoman and candidate for governor says she and her husband Dave have canceled their season tickets because of the national anthem protests by some players last season.
Black says she and her husband didn’t attend or watch a single game last season because the NFL and its players disrespected the flag and the national anthem. Their boycott will continue next season, she wrote in an opinion article that appeared last week on Outkick the Coverage, the website hosted by sports commentator Clay Travis.
“For now, my family has decided that we’ll spend Sunday afternoons fishing instead of attending Titans games,” Black wrote. “And that will continue until the NFL and its players show due respect for The Star Spangled Banner that waves for the land of the free and the home of the brave.” |
