Description | Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee moved Monday to shut down their investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, declaring they found no evidence that members of President Donald Trump's campaign team cooperated with the Russian scheme and dissenting from a central pillar of the intelligence community's assessment of the plot.
The most striking finding of the report was a contradiction of the FBI, CIA and NSA's finding that the goal of the Russian effort was to boost Trump's campaign, rather than simply to sow discord in American democracy. The agencies have repeatedly asserted support for those findings, even as Trump's appointees took the helm. |
