Description | "The Washington Post is reporting that D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton had a “heated exchange” with President Obama on Wednesday during a meeting at the White House about D.C.’s budget constraints as a result of the shutdown.
Norton was one of many attendees able to ask the President a question, and when she was called on, Norton urged Obama to support a House-passed bill that would allow the city to use locally-raised tax funds to maintain operations until Dec. 15.
A lawmaker who was present described Norton as "strident," "self-absorbed" and "parochial" in her exchange with Obama.
Obama confirmed his stance that Republicans need to work on reopening the entire federal government without passing standalone spending measures." |
