Description | "Trying to keep up momentum, critics of state Sen. Angela Giron, D-Pueblo, said the first-term lawmaker should drop efforts to quash the 12,648 voter signatures on recall petitions that were validated by the Colorado Secretary of State’s office this week.
“Senator Giron and I can’t both be right,” retired Deputy Police Chief George Rivera told two dozen supporters at a rally Friday. “So let’s have an election and settle this once and for all.”
Pueblo County Republicans are backing Rivera, 64, if there is a recall election later this summer. It takes the signatures of 1,000 registered voters to get Rivera, or any alternative candidate, on the recall ballot.
Giron’s campaign is challenging the recall petitions, claiming they were improperly worded. State Sen. John Morse, D-Colorado Springs, is making that same claim about recall petitions against him and the secretary of state’s office heard that legal argument Thursday." |
