Description | Republican conservative activist Bob Vander Plaats on Friday said U.S. Rep. Tom Latham, a 10-term Republican from Clive, could reverse course and seek the 2014 U.S. Senate seat in Iowa.
Lots of attention is focused on Iowa's other Republican Congressman, Steve King, who is mulling a run for the spot. Right after U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, said in January he would retire in 2014, Latham and King were seen as the two Republican heavyweights to run in Iowa. But on Feb. 27 Latham said he wouldn't seek the senatorial seat, so attention shifted to King. |
