Description | A Tennessee state representative has urged Oklahoma country music star Carrie Underwood to "stick to singing" and leave the lawmaking to him, reports wsmv.com.
Underwood, a resident of Nashville, Tenn. and an animal rights supporter, had come to the defense of farm animals by joining with animals rights groups asking Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam to veto a controversial "ag gag" bill.”
The bill, in existence in Kansas, Montana and North Dakota for years and passed in Iowa last year, requires anyone recording images of animal abuses to submit unedited footage or photos to law enforcement within 48 hours, reported the website. Tennessee legislators also passed the Livestock Cruelty Prevention Act last week.
Critics of the bill insist its reporting deadline would "result in short, incomplete investigations” and "discourages would-be whistleblowers from coming forward out of fear of prosecution," according to the website. |
