A Harris Interactive survey on behalf of technology marketing firm Velti found that 49 percent of iPhone and Android owners plan to support President Barack Obama in November’s election, compared with just 31 percent for Mitt Romney.
“The results of this survey demonstrate that the smartphone market is becoming a whole new demographic that candidates must take into consideration when building a comprehensive campaign strategy,” Velta CMO Krishna Subramanian said. “Clearly, mobile advertising is emerging as an influential medium and a distinct audience.”
Why weren’t BlackBerry users included in the survey?
In further grim news for Research in Motion, a publicist for the survey said, “BlackBerrys were in fact considered in the survey but given very few respondents reported being a BlackBerry user, their numbers were not statistically relevant. Of those considering themselves smartphone owners, only 9 percent reported being BlackBerry users.”
There was some good news for Romney, however: He leads Obama 57 percent to 34 percent among retired iPhone and Android users." |
