DescriptionOMAHA -- No one doubts Nebraska Republicans ultimately will line up behind presumptive nominee Mitt Romney, but don't be surprised if some GOP delegates from the state cast votes for Ron Paul.

That's a scene party leaders would like to avoid, but they acknowledged it's likely given the success Paul supporters and tea party advocates have had electing delegates at county conventions throughout the state. Those activists chose delegates to the July 14 state convention, which in turn determines the state's 32 delegates to the Republican National Convention.

About half the delegate and county central committee seats in Douglas and Sarpy counties -- two of the state's largest -- went to supporters of Paul and the tea party.

"I think I'd be lying if I said I was happy with the way the convention turned out, but I'm not surprised," said Sarpy County GOP Chairman Ken Ragland. "The Ron Paul people were well-organized in their effort to make some inroads into the party."
