| Description | Former Gov. John Baldacci announced Wednesday that he would not seek the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Olympia Snowe, saying his family’s desire to remain in Maine was the driving factor in his decision.
Speaking to reporters outside Bangor City Hall, the two-term Democratic governor said he felt “very compelled” to enter the race and that he was confident in his chances. But ultimately, Baldacci said he could not commit — for himself and for his family — to spending another six years in Washington, D.C. |
