Description | Sources report that Rep. John Mica is calling donors to inform them that he plans to run in the newly drawn Congressional District 7. This is the same district Rep. Sandy Adams has already announced she is running in.
If the reports are correct, the freshman Congresswoman will find herself up against the ten term veteran lawmaker who was named the 9th most powerful person in Central Florida by the Orlando Sentinel.
Such a development will also leave former CEO Craig Miller the only announced candidate running in Mica’s current district, which is now Congressional District 6 on the new maps. Miller recently dropped out of the U.S. Senate race to run for the House in the new district, having grown up on the Space Coast.
Miller’s decision starting a domino effect with multiple candidates having since declared their intentions.
Adams released a statement last week saying she will run in the new 7th District, which is very similar to the 24th District she represents now, minus a portion of Brevard County and parts of eastern Orange County. |
