Description | Rocky Anderson’s intention to run for president independent of the Democratic and Republican parties is good news (“Rocky Anderson returns — this time shooting for president,” Tribune, Nov. 30).
It’s time for Americans to have more options than the nominees of the two parties of war and Wall Street.
Instead of founding his own party, Anderson should consider running for the Green Party’s nomination, for several reasons.
The Green Party platform and principles are consistent with his own, and he would be welcome in the party.
The Green Party already has ballot lines in many states, recognition by the Federal Election Commission and the infrastructure to support him if he wins the nomination.
Many of these hurdles are quite difficult, thanks to prohibitive ballot-access rules enacted by Democratic and Republican politicians to hinder other parties and candidates.
Why reinvent the wheel less than a year before Election Day 2012? |
