DescriptionSteve McMahon, the ad consultant for Howard Dean that I reported was going to be fired (coming from a very respectable source) yesterday, is still in, this according to DailyKos. Even if he's in for now, McMahon is destined to leave Dean, perhaps even sooner than Dean leaves the race. McMahon, Trippi, and Squire's firm -- "Issue & Image" -- ran Dean's last two Vermont races. McMahon was the ad man on those, so the two have a history. That explains why he's sticking around. People on the Kos boards are calling for his head, but Howard will stick with his man . . . for now, until Big Bad Al (Gore) tells him that McMahon has worn out his welcome. So, ironically, the guy who seemed gone for sure (according to my reliable and CLOSE source) -- McMahon -- is staying, while the guy that I reported being close to out (Trippi) is VERY much out. Strange world, this politics is.
