Description | An Oregon state representative is under fire for allegations that he groped a campaign worker at a labor convention in Eugene last month. The Willamette Week newspaper reports that Democrat Mike Schaufler allegedly grabbed the breast of a volunteer with the congressional campaign of Brad Avakian.
Mike Schaufler is an outspoken lawmaker from the town of Happy Valley in Clackamas County. The Willamette Week reports that at a convention held by the AFL-CIO, several witnesses saw the Democrat make the unwanted advance.
Schaufler could not be reached for comment but told the paper that the accusations are "categorically untrue." The woman he allegedly groped works for Oregon's Bureau of Labor and Industries, but was in Eugene as a volunteer for the Congressional campaign of Brad Avakian, who heads the agency. |
