Description | Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton says Walter Fauntroy, her predecessor as the District of Columbia’s representative in Congress, is in Libya but is safe.
Norton says in a statement that she spoke Tuesday to Fauntroy’s wife, Dorothy. She says Dorothy Fauntroy spoke to her husband early Tuesday morning and that he said he’s in a safe place in Libya. Rebels are battling loyalists to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi for control of the capital city, Tripoli.
Norton says Walter Fauntroy expects to return to Washington later this week to attend the dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial. |
