DescriptionA Dane County judge ruled Republican state Representative John Nygren of Marinette cannot have his name added to the ballot for the recall election in the state's 30th Senate District.

Earlier this week, the Government Accountability Board, reviewing claims made by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, determined Nygren's nomination papers only had 398 valid signatures -- two short of the 400 required.

At Friday's hearing, attorneys representing Nygren argued the GAB was too quick to dismiss three signatures on Nygren's nomination petition, signatures Nygren believes are valid. That would give him 401.

"And to be clear, we believe the only relevant question for the Court to consider today is whether Representative Nygren provided the GAB with a nomination form containing at least 400 signatures," attorney Eric McCleod said.
