Description | NEW YORK — Wall Street rose sharply Friday, as investors applauded key national manufacturing data, with confidence growing that the economic slowdown could be temporary.
The Institute for Supply Management said Friday its latest index of national factory activity showed that sector of the economy picked up pace in June.
Other data released Friday included the Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment survey for June, which fell to 71.5 from 71.8 in the preliminary June reading, and a report on construction spending, which was flat in May. |
